Vyatka description
They are extremely useful and versatile ponies and have stamina, hardiness and endurance. They are used for riding and driving and are commonly used for pulling the traditional troikas; they are also useful for light agricultural work.
In appearance, they have a small head, set onto a strong, thick neck. They are very powerful through the shoulders, deep through the girth and have muscular quarters. Invariably the Vyatka has a luxurious mane and tail, and in winter grows an incredibly thick coat.

They are usually chestnut or bay roan, or dun colored with a dorsal stripe and sometimes zebra markings on the legs

Vyatka history
They originated in the areas around Vyatka and Obva river basins of the former USSR and have probably been influenced by both the Klepper and Konik ponies, while almost certainly being a descendant of the Tarpan.
Vyatka uses
In the long term, the breed could become quite competitive due to the development of tourism. As draught horses, the crosses of the Vyatka and heavy draughters are quite strong, have good fodder utilization and practically no reaction to midges and blood-sucking insects.

Vyatka interesting facts
No stud breeds the Vyatka. The breed needs protection.
By the first half of the 19th century it became the best troika horse in Russia.
